Who says you have to go up hills to have adventures.
Today we meandered along the coast and saw beautiful purple flowers holding the tiniest droplets of dew; fabulous dew-laden webs; and deer. What a thrill, more so because it was totally unexpected. Suddenly we came across 2 roe deer grazing on the path in front of us and then merging beautifully into the reeds – I didn’t think I would see deer in a coastal nature reserve. Where was I in the list, oh yes, I remember. Pink foot geese – apparently these guys come in their thousands each winter, cormorants, gannets diving for fish, terns, sandpipers, the greater-spotted East Lothian golfer and the lesser-spotted, but distinctive sea kayaker.
The beaches here are wide, sandy and mostly empty – just shared with a few dogs and their humans.
All in a day’s meander.
For me, making the most of the weather, and going for any sort of a walk is what a day out on holiday is all about.
